In special partnership with Semicolon Bookstore + Gallery, The Dewey School of Excellence’s Dream Society is now stewards of Chicago Public School’s first Critical Reading Corner. Semicolon was founded by Chicago’s first + only black woman bookstore owner Dr. Danielle Mullen.
Behind every dreamer, activist, change-agent and leader is a indelible will to wonder. Fredrick Douglass affirms “once you learn to read you will be forever free.” Like SemiColon, we believe this journey begins in a world of books. We also believe in powering transformative spaces full of culturally relevant texts, critical thinking and of course — dreamers.
Thank you Danielle + team for curating such a meaningful space.💡Because of Dr. Danielle + her SemiColon team, Because of you, rising scholars will now be able to engage with characters + stories that mirror their own. Representation absolutely matters!
